General information:

The highest speed allowed for roads:

Within city: 50km/h
Outside city: 90km/h
Highways: 130km/h

You are required to turn the headlights on while driving at all time.

Road and highway fees:
All cars must have a valid highway pass for the Czech Republic. It is included in the rent, together with the Czech road tax.

Safety belts:
All passengers on the front and back seats are required to have their seatbelts fastened.

Headlights:
You are required to turn the headlights on while driving at all times of the year.

Alcohol:
It is prohibited to drink any alcohol before and while driving. Zero tolerance applies.

Phone calls while driving:
The law requires that the driver does not use or hold a cell phone while driving.

Fuel:
At gas stations, the filling sites are labeled as Diesel or Nafta (oil).
For petrol engines use lead-free petrol labeled as Natural 95 or Natural 98.

Parking:
On most roads you can park on the right side in the driving direction. In the center of Prague park the car only at designated public parking lots or at sites with parking meters. Otherwise your car can be towed. We recommend that you park the rented car at guarded parking lots or in garages.

Winter tires:
At some roads and highways marked as “povinná výbava” (obligatory equipment) between November 1 and April 30 you are required to use winter tires with the minimum design depth of 4 mm.
